Run, Rest, Run

Friday

Friday had two options.  Either wake up super early a third day in a row to get my run in before my husband planned to run OR somehow make it work where we both could run at the same time.  I went with the second option.  Which meant that I had to push C in the stroller.

I had asked my husband what pace he was hoping to run.  He said around 10:00/miles.  I thought I could hold that pace with the stroller.  I hoped!

We planned a route that was more flat for Mr. N to ride his bike on (I did not want a repeat of the other day).  He had to make it up the neighborhood hill first though.  My husband had to give him a push to make the climb.  After that, he did great and kept going the entire 2.35 miles to the park playground.

Meanwhile, I found myself having to push pretty hard to keep up with the two of them.  Pushing a stroller is NO JOKE!!!  Especially up that first hill.  Whenever it was flat, it was easier to stick behind them.

When we got to the park, the boys went straight to the playground.  I offered to let my husband run the park loop by himself if he wanted to.  He passed.  Thankfully, he got the hint, and made the same offer in return.  I definitely took him up on that!!!  I ran the loop for an extra mile.  It felt so easy to be running without the stroller.

Once I was back, the boys were making their way to feed the ducks.  We were able to feed baby goslings and baby ducklings.  Very cute!

We could not stay at the park for long because I had to get to an appointment.  So we grabbed the bike and stroller again.  We finished the loop at the park and headed back home. They ended up just short of five miles I believe.

I may have ran our cul-de-sac twice to even my run out at six miles.

That is what I call quality family time!

Suddenly, I was a 24/7 parent, teacher, coach, and actual physical presence for two growing boys. The gym closed down; my job went with it. I am thankful that I did…

Disney Dopey Challenge 2020 One year ago today, I completed my third marathon, which happened to also be my first Disney Dopey Challenge! (Little did I know that my 2020 racing days were numbered). I am very thankful to be able to say that I “raced” each of my distances last year. Those four distances…
