Run, Rest, Run

Friday Run

It was my third run day in a row.  That is a rare happening.  A couple reasons why I went out on day three were that the weather was still absolutely perfect (upper 50s, cool breeze) and I was at my parents for the final morning of our visit (free childcare).

I had only planned on running one morning during our visit.  Therefore, I did not have a second running outfit.  EEK!  I wore my workout clothes I usually use for Piyo and threw on my long sleeved running shirt and headband from the day before.  EWW!  I know!  A runner will do what they have to do to get their run in. I was pleasantly surprised with how comfortable all of the clothes felt.  Maybe I will start mixing up my workout clothes more often.

The run was okay.  I could tell it was my third day in a row.  My body was doing a little arguing with me.  “Why are you running AGAIN today?!?  I need a day off”.  I felt more tight throughout the entire three miles.  Nothing ever really loosened up.

Like yesterday, I went out with no pace goals.  I simply wanted to get in a few miles for the day.  I was out and back in time to help set up for day two of the garage sale at my parent’s house.  Yes, we always have a couple lawn mowers at the garage sale

Splits: 9:03, 9:01, 9:03

Friday’s Workout:

  • 3 mile run
  • 40: tricep dips, push ups, squats, lunges, donkey kicks, bridges, Russian twists, ankle taps, reverse crunches, bicycle crunches, jack hammers, and scissor kicks

Sunday Run

It was another early alarm.  I am very confident that if I had not been meeting another MRTT mom, I would have stayed in bed and ignored my alarm.  Luckily, someone said they would meet me at 5am on a Sunday morning and made me get my rear out of bed first thing to get it done.

I pulled out of the garage at 4:45am.

Kristin and I met at The Little Gym.  We ran my typical two miles up the road and two miles back.  I was a little worried about running on the sidewalk while it was dark outside, but the main road was well lit and we could easily see the few bumps in the cement.  Since it was only the two of us, we were able to run at a faster pace.  Surprisingly, we still were talking during the first few miles.  I’ll be honest, our last mile, we were pretty quiet.

Splits: 8:35, 8:45, 8:43, 8:44, 2:16

When I got in my car after the run it read that it was already 66 degrees outside.  It was going to be a very hot day in Ohio!

I was a sweaty mess.  Only 4.27 miles and I was dripping in sweat.  EVERYWHERE!  By far, I am more of a winter runner.  I mean, fall and spring are my favorites.  But if I had to choose, I would pick winter over summer.

My knee and hip felt great. I have been really focusing on pushing myself with harder variations in my rep work each day to try and build up more strength in those weak areas.  I hope the pain continues to decrease and I am back to 100% soon!

Sunday’s Workout:

  • 4.27 mile run
  • 55 reverse crunches, bicycle crunches, and leg raises
  • 40: tricep dips, push ups, squats, lunges, donkey kicks, bridges, Russian twists, ankle taps, scissor kicks, dead bugs
  • 20: supermans, burpees, leg and hip extensions, single leg deadlifts, and fire hydrants
  • 2:30 planks
  • arm weights, 10 reps, three rounds

How is the weather where you are?  Is here a temperature that you will NOT run in?

365 Days… When the pandemic hit, I found myself a bit out-of-control. Like many of you, routines were flipped upside down in an instant. Suddenly, I was a 24/7 parent, teacher, coach, and actual physical presence for two growing boys. The gym closed down; my job went with it. I am thankful that I did…

Disney Dopey Challenge 2020 One year ago today, I completed my third marathon, which happened to also be my first Disney Dopey Challenge! (Little did I know that my 2020 racing days were numbered). I am very thankful to be able to say that I “raced” each of my distances last year. Those four distances…
