Toothless Six

Toothless Six

December 18th and 45 degrees?  Yep, we took full advantage of that!

While my younger guy was spending the day with Grandma, Mr. N and I got outside and hit up the bike path.  I had planned on us running from home.  However, N requested the special spot.  I wanted to run with him so badly that I resorted to taking out a car seat (which I avoid) so that his big boy bike would fit in the back of the car.

The plan was to run five miles.  The bridge caught his attention and he decided he wanted to ride farther.  So we pushed for six miles.

Entertainment for this afternoon’s run was provided by a biking, six year old, who is missing his two front teeth (as of last night and this morning)…

*2.7 miles?!?  It feels like we have done NINE miles!!!

*Oh, puddles!!!

*So I will bike eight miles when I am eight?  And 100 miles when I am 100?!?

*Why do cars not stop for us?

*How far down into the water does the bridge go?

*How much cement did it take to build this bridge?

*How long is that road?

*How long would it take you to run the entire bike path?

*So three miles out and three miles back?  Yep, that will get us six.

*Has it been a minute yet?

*OH! Downhill!  YAY!  I don’t even have to peddle.  I can just sit here and I still go.

*If we were going 995mph, how long would it take to get back to our car?

*If we were going that same speed, how long would it take to do the whole bike path?

*What if a car drove on this bike path?

*Can we walk?  (No!)

*Half mile to go?  How many minutes will that take?

*It’s starting to rain.  Is it going to pour?  I hope it pours!

*Oh, I see it!  First one there wins!!!! (Suddenly, he had all the energy in the world to leave his momma in the dust).

*How old is the Powder Factory?

*Why is it historical?

Just the highlights.  The list goes on and on…

We saw three deer along the way.  We stopped at almost every water fall/bridge.  It took us 1:13:26 to run six miles in 51:50.  There was one wipe out.  No tears.  And more special memories made together!!!

There is no other way I would want to spend my six miles today than beside, behind, and in front of this big, toothless, six year old!!!

365 Days… When the pandemic hit, I found myself a bit out-of-control. Like many of you, routines were flipped upside down in an instant. Suddenly, I was a 24/7 parent, teacher, coach, and actual physical presence for two growing boys. The gym closed down; my job went with it. I am thankful that I did…

Disney Dopey Challenge 2020 One year ago today, I completed my third marathon, which happened to also be my first Disney Dopey Challenge! (Little did I know that my 2020 racing days were numbered). I am very thankful to be able to say that I “raced” each of my distances last year. Those four distances…
