Peeps Kids Run

Peeps Kids Run

Saturday, March 25, 2017

The Peeps Kids Run took place this morning in downtown Cincinnati at Sawyer Point.  Between just having raced in the Shamrock Shuffle and originally thinking I would have the boys by myself, I did not sign up to run in the 5K race.  Instead, this event was going to be all about the boys!!!  It is hard to find decent kid races.  So when I happened to come across this one, I knew I had to sign them up.

Mr. N was totally pumped!  He was so excited last night at bedtime.  His little giggles were adorable.  He really wants to race more often!!!!

On the other hand, Mr. C was not excited this morning.  He said he was not going to race.  I was not going to push it.  He is only three after all.

N took off quick!  (He inherits this problem from his momma).  Not going to lie, I was worried that he would wear himself out by the time he got to the end of his quarter mile race.

As soon as all of the kids took off from the start line, C changed his mind (always).  I turned around and saw my mom taking off with him and the Easter baskets.  Later, C would laugh that Grandma was running with the Easter baskets bouncing around.  Oh, the little things.

I tried my best to get photos, take some video, and cheer as loud as I could!  As N took the last turn and came running to the finish line, I could not have been more proud.  He treated me with a big grin right at the camera as he went running past me.  My heart was completely full in that moment!!!

The quarter mile course was really nice.  They actually got to do a loop around the stage area of the park.  Afterward, N was excited to share with me that he ran all the way over there by the water!!!

Once N had ran through and got his medal, we went back to cheer on his little brother.  Grandma and C did some running and some fast walking and some more running.  Proud of them for finishing the race!!!

Those two are just simply SUPER AWESOME!!!

The boys already received their race Peeps yesterday at packet pick up.  Today, they earned their Peeps medal. Very cool!  N asked, “When I go back to preschool on Monday, do you think I should wear my medal?” Fish class, be prepared to hear all about the big race.

Seeing N succeed and be proud is the best!  I see many more races in this kid’s future.

Post race, the event included an egg hunt.  The 0-4 year olds got to go first.  Lots and lots of eggs filled with stickers for this guy.  I think he may have ran faster for the eggs than he did during the race.  Silly, guy.

The race organizers did a wonderful job of keeping us informed.  We knew to bring our own baskets for the egg hunt, where to park, and what was included in our registration.

Next up was the 5-8 year olds.  N took off and started filling his bucket.  C started throwing a tantrum that he could not go egg hunting again.  Ay, ay, ay.  (You will notice he does not make an appearance in any more photos).

This guy ended up with a lot of eggs filled with stickers and little erasers.  Some eggs had gift certificates for Tri State Running Company (a sponsor for the event).  We were not lucky enough this morning to grab one of those.  Maybe next time.

Overall, the Peeps Kids Run was a great event.  It was the first year for this race.  The boys both had a lot of fun.  It was easy to get in and out.  The different events moved quickly, one after the other (ahead of schedule).  We are thankful for a new kids run in the area!!!  Please, please, please do it again next year!  The Priem boys will be back!

365 Days… When the pandemic hit, I found myself a bit out-of-control. Like many of you, routines were flipped upside down in an instant. Suddenly, I was a 24/7 parent, teacher, coach, and actual physical presence for two growing boys. The gym closed down; my job went with it. I am thankful that I did…

Disney Dopey Challenge 2020 One year ago today, I completed my third marathon, which happened to also be my first Disney Dopey Challenge! (Little did I know that my 2020 racing days were numbered). I am very thankful to be able to say that I “raced” each of my distances last year. Those four distances…
